This walking tour leads you to hidden sights only accessible by foot.
Tour Details: Walks of around 4-6 hours each day with some climbs of 300 meters, a lovely first-time tour in low-level mountain scenery.
Day 1: Individual arrival at Abersee/Wolfgangsee
Day 2 – St. Wolfgang – St. Gilgen – Return by boat
Start the day with an exhilarating high walk to the Falkenstein Wall, which overlooks the scenic lake. The idyllic Fürberg Walk along the lake leads you to the Mozart village of St. Gilgen. From there, enjoy a return boat ride with picture perfect views.

Day 3: Abersee – Lake Schwarzensee –Strobl – Bad Ischl
Your path today begins long the Sattel (saddle) Walk to Lake Schwarzensee, where Madame Lore of the lake hut waits to treat you with tasty specialties. The trail continues down into the valley by a rugged gorge. Keep walking to the Bürglstein, leading to the lake promenade in Strobl. From there, take a local bus to the Emperor’s town of Bad Ischl.

Day 4: Resting day in Bad Ischl. Take a break from extensive walking to explore Bad Ischl
Visit the Emperor’s villa, ride a cable car or relax in the spa. Check out Café Zauner if you are looking for delicious Austrian treats. The Hotel Austria is where Emperor Franz Josef and Elisabeth of Bavaria got engaged.
Day 5: Brine-Pipeline walk Bad Ischl to Bad Goisern
Salt has always played an important part in the culture of Salzkammergut. You’ll learn about the importance of salt to this area as you walk the promenade along the Ischl River. The Brine-Pipeline leads to the world cultural heritage city of Bad Goisern, where you’ll spend the night.

Day 6: Brine-Pipeline walk or lakeside trail Bad Goisern to Hallstatt
Start the day by continuing along the Brine Pipeline Trail to the Salzberg (salt mountain) in Hallstatt. This old salt mine started operation in the Celtic times. The path is slightly ascending and offers breathtaking views of the quaint town of Hallstatt. Look around to see Mount Dachstein, the highest peak in upper Austria. The day ends with a pleasant boat and train ride back to your hotel in Bad Goisern. Optional you will follow the lakeside trail to Hallstatt!

Day 7: Bad Ischl to Lake Wolfgangsee
By train to Bad Ischl. This morning, follow the Elisabeth walking path to idyllic Lake Nussensee. Follow the path along the Ischl River to the charming town of Strobl. As you walk along the lake and through the Blinkling Moor, you’ll reach the peninsula of Abersee. This area provides a spectacular view to St. Wolfgang, Schafberg and the lake.
- Distance: 14 to 19.5 km, Walking hour: 6 hours, Up 210 m, Down 140 m.
Day 8: Departure from Lake Wolfgangsee
